Somali President calls for immediate ceasefire in Gaza

Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud called for an immediate ceasefire on Friday and urged humanitarian access to assist the most vulnerable people in Gaza.

Speaking at the Saudi-Africa summit, President Mohamud reiterated the importance of working towards a two-state solution at the earliest possible opportunity.

Last week, Somali Prime Minister Hassan Abi Barre stated that the Hamas group was not a terrorist organization but rather a liberation group fighting to protect Palestinian lands.

The Prime Minister emphasized that the only satisfactory solution is a two-state resolution, stating, “We will not compromise until we see a Palestinian government with Jerusalem as its capital. The blood of the people of Gaza marks the beginning of the liberation of Al-Aqsa.”
