The city of Baidoa is expected to hos a high-level talks between the president of Somalia Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and leaders of the five Federal States.
The meeting of the National Consultative Council [NCC] will kick start on 14th March, and will be chaired by the head of the state, according to a circular seen by Warqaad
The sources privy to the presidency said the leaders will discuss a set of key issues touching the national priories, mainly the elections in the country to reach a consensus.
The SG of the PM’s office Mohamed Abukar opened in Baidoa on Saturday a meeting which paves the way for the leaders’ upcoming talks.
The country is current at war with Al-Shabaab and leaders of the both Federal and State levels are cooperating on the liberation with the support of the US and other partners.
The last NCC meeting was held in Villa Somalia in September 2022.
PM Hamza Abdi Barre, Ahmed Madobe [Jubaland], Abdizais Hassan Mohamed Laftagaren [Southwest], Ahmed Abdi Kariye [Galmudug], Hirshabelle leader Ali Gudlawe Hussein, and Said Abdullahi Deni, the leader of Puntland, attended the conference.
