Somali Prime Minister Hamse Abdi Barre held separate meetings with women and business leaders at Villa Somalia on Tuesday, where they discussed strengthening their role in governance, peace and reconciliation.
The PM listened to the women’s suggestions regarding the formation of the government.
“We must come together and consult to give awareness to the community. Fighting al-Shabaab and ensuring the security of the capital must be our top priorities.”
Prime Minister Hamze Abdi Barre and the business community discussed the role of entrepreneurs in developing the economy and strengthening security.
He urged the business leaders to continue supporting the new government to assist in tackling the drought.
Somali Parliament demanded on Monday that Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre select his cabinet within ten days.
Barre was expected to name his cabinet by Monday, which marked 30 days after his appointment, but he said he is still seeking consultations and speaking with candidates.
Barre, appointed on June 25, requested Parliament to give him an extension to form an all-inclusive government, noting that the delay was due to a protracted electoral process.
